You're probably familiar with the adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words." As marketers, we also know images are far more likely to be noticed, and remembered, than numbers and words. We also know almost everyone starts their home search online, where photographs and property descriptions must stand out and appeal to would-be buyers. So why are there so many bad property photos online? We recently prepared a 1800s home to go onto the market. This process, called staging, entailed everything from tidying up the yard to rearranging and redecorating each room. Working with the owner, an interior designer and antique dealer, was a dream come true and when all was said and done, we were struck by the stark contrast in how this home was presented online vs. other homes.
