The O’Halloran Group, Keller Williams Lakes and Mountains Realty, held its second annual virtual Ultra 1K road race throughout the month of May. The goal of the event was to raise funds and awareness in support of three area food pantries, Kearsarge Lake Sunapee (KLS) Community Food Pantry, Newport Food Pantry and Warner Connects NH Food Pantry.

This year the event featured four race routes and participants could complete the Ultra challenge any time during the month of May for a chance to win several prize giveaways. Between racer participation and generous sponsor support, O’Halloran Group reached the goal of raising $15,000 and donating $5,000 to each of the food pantries. This is an increase from the $8,000 raised during the inaugural race in 2020.

“We are extremely pleased with the Ultra 1K this year,” said Dan O’Halloran, broker/owner. “To raise $15,000 in our second year of the event is amazing. None of it would have been possible without the incredible support we received from local businesses and people in our community. It’s a great feeling to raise money for our local food pantries who work so hard throughout the year. What's even better is how supportive our community was, which really showed that we live, work and play in an incredible area. Thank you so much to all those who helped, sponsored, donated and participated in the race.”

Combined, the three food pantries support residents in 20 towns in the Sunapee Region. In 2020 the Newport Food Pantry provided more than 76,000 meals with only 1 director and 1 volunteer.  The Warner Connects NH Food Pantry made 300 visits per week with 100 hours in volunteer time per week. The Kearsarge Lake Sunapee (KLS) Community Food Pantry, with their 120 volunteers, served 1,200 families last year with 100 new families needing assistance. The 3rd Annual Ultra 1K will return May 2022 and you can expect even more fun and entertainment from the event. Stay up to date on event details at www.ultra1k.com.
