15 Spring To Do's in New London and the Neighboring Towns!

Springtime in New London, NH Now that the days are a little warmer, its easy to start planning summer weekend getaways. However, we encourage you to not look too far ahead and miss out on all the fun that New London and the surrounding towns have to offer this spring. The following is a quick round-up of things to do in New London (and the nearby towns) in May and June.

1. May 4th, 5:30 pm - Center for the Arts First Friday Gallery Stroll Eat, Sip, Stroll, and be Artsy! Visit the New London Inn, Lake Sunapee Bank, Whipple Hall and New London Hospital to view the new art exhibits and enjoy refreshments along the way. http://www.centerfortheartsnh.org/first-fridays-.html

2. May 5th, 7:30 am - 9:00 am - Birding by Sight at The Fells Historic Estate & Gardens Seek out The Fells (2018 New Hampshire Magazine "Best of NH" award recipient) in neighboring town, Newbury and get your birding on! Join Peter Newbern for an early morning bird walk to learn tricks for identifying bird songs and calls, followed by a chance to hear and see some of the various neo-tropical birds returning to NH and to habitats further north.https://thefells.org/view-by-date/birding-by-ear-and-sight-7y7pc

3. May 5th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm - Annual Community Appreciation Day Hosted by Clarkes Hardware, this event features a BBQ cookout (burgers and dogs) music by the Fondtones, a CarNutz Car Show and Touch-A-Truck for the kids! 4. May 11th, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm - National Public Gardens Day at The Fells Explore the beautiful gardens at The Fells, and discover the colorful blooms that will have sprouted thanks to all of those April showers.https://thefells.org/view-by-date/national-public-gardens-day-may-12-d3bbs

5. May 17th, 9:00 am - Black Fly Golf Open Dust off your clubs and join the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce for their annual golf fundraiser. 6. May 19th, 9:00 am - Chicken Farmer 5K Hosted by Newbury Fire Rescue, this 5k road race is flat, fast and fabulous!https://www.runreg.com/chicken-farmer-5k

7. May 19th - Dancing with the Stars from 5:30 pm Reception and 7:00 pm Showtime Hosted by the Center for the Arts, Lake Sunapee Region, this is a fantastically fun show! 8. May 19th, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - Spring Into Warner Arts Festival In just a 15min drive south of New Lonon, you will find yourself in Warner, NH for their 11th annual Spring into Warner Arts Festival! Beautiful Main Street opens up and you will find unique and amazing local artists and artisans, musicians, and farmers. 9. May 26th, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm - NH Largest Church Yard Sale! Join theKearsarge Community Presbyterian Church located at 82 King Hill Road in New London for one of our regions largest yard sales! You will find antiques, rooms of furniture, rugs, jewelry, tools, electronics, toys, clothing, gas grills, wicker, sporting goods, plants, art linens, lamps, china and more! 10. May 28th,7:30 am Registration, 9:00 am Race Start- WCA Black Fly Blitz A fun 5k run that concludes with a post-race celebration and music on the bandstand! Held in Wilmot (a short ride from New London) this 3.1-mile rural fun run helps support the Wilmot Community Association and the Kearsarge Regional School Districts track and cross country teams.http://wilmotwca.org/black-fly-blitz-2018/

11. June 2nd - American Hiking Society's National Trails Day What a perfect day to get out and take advantage of one of the locally maintained trails! Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust and the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway offer miles and miles of great trails and fantastic view sites! June 9th, 8:30 am - Annual Plant Sale at The Fells All Gardeners, SAVE THIS DATE! established plants and shrubs propagated and field dug from The Fells very own gardens, as well as from the regions finest nurseries. 14. June 18th,3:30 pm Gate Opens, 4:00 pm Music Begins - June Jam A short drive from New London will bring you to Muster Field Farm in Sutton. 15. June 23rd, 10:00am - 3:00pm - New London Strawberry Festival Okay, we know this event falls after the Summer Solstice, but its one of our favorites and we wanted to share it early! If youre anywhere near New London, NH this weekend, dont miss out on all the family fun, live music, delicious food, and yesstrawberry shortcake (made with local strawberries from the Spring Ledge Farm strawberry fields) that the Strawberry Festival brings to town.
