I remember the bank VP ask me who was my realtor when I was visiting her office and I told her it was Dan O'Halloran. Her reply was "You won the lottery". After closing on our New London NH home, I have that feeling.
When we started considering relocating in the Lake Sunapee/Mount Sunapee area, we planned an initial visit back in May. I had researched the real estate concerns in the area and after seeing Yelp and other reviews, I chose Dan and gave him a call. His knowledge and professionalism were evident from the first conversation. Once we visited, he made a thorough assessment of our likes and dislikes, got inside our heads to see what we wanted, and visited many condos and homes on the high and low side of preferences and budgets to begin to narrow down the choices. A second and a third visit followed, his expert advise and unflappable demeanor being constantly evident. Dan has an encyclopedic knowledge of the area and its amenities.
We made a first offer on a house and Dan's input was quite valuable in our standing firm on our offer, and although we passed on this first house, it was for the better. A month later we closed on an awesome deal in a second house. We're ecstatic.

My wife and I were very impressed with Dan O'Halloran. We worked with Dan to relocate from California to New Hampshire. He was very professional but also low pressure which made the process much easier and less stressful. I was impressed with his knowledge of house structures, land and Real Estate laws; it helped with a few hard decisions. I also liked his theory on telling him what we didn’t like which helped him as much as telling him what we did.
Dan was also very responsive to our communications no matter how we contacted him whether it was a phone call, text or email. Not that you have to be able to text or email him but we used all methods and he was very responsive.
We visited twice and he worked very hard to line up over 15 houses each visit, coordinating the route to be the most efficient and working with the showing agent.
Once my wife and I made our decision from California Dan had the technology to sign and make most of the legal paperwork happen online. He was also able to recommend a good bank, home inspectors and insurance companies.
We ended up with not just a house but a home. Once in the house Dan continued to help us by recommending an electrician to install a generator hook up!
Straight forward young man. Did what he said he would do. Was invaluable to us as we lived in CT and he took care of things in New London, NH. When the home inspection report indicated several items needed fixing, Dan provided names of local businesses who could perform the work. The people he recommended were excellent and provided excellent service at a very reasonable price. We needed electrical and septic work performed and were completely satisfied with the end result.
Dan was our real estate agent. From the start he made sure we understood the process of buying a home. He was willing to work hard at getting us what we needed and wanted. Dan doesn't shy away from aggressive negotiations yet he didn't pressure us into anything we didn't want. In the end we have a great house for an amazing price and felt comfortable every step of the way.

Dan O'Halloran was an absolute pleasure to work with. My wife and I were absolute property Virgins, and Dan took the time day and night to not only find the perfect house for us, but he educated us every step of the way through the process. He was there from the first call to the bank to the champagne celebration after purchasing the house. Dan takes every buying situation personally and fully invests his time, energy, and expertise into making sure we were 100% satisfied customers.
Our buying situation was a struggle from the banks to the sellers, and Dan took the initiative to find a solution at every stop. He even found ways for us financially the banks didn't even know was possible. He is very well educated in the financial markets, and a veteran at real estate. Dan also took it upon himself to make sure to follow up with every inspection, have the sellers correct any flaws of the house before the purchase, and he fought for us to make sure this was a clean sale, and all parties were getting a great deal. If you're looking to close in 30 days, get a house for "You," and not be bothered with a scummy sales pitch, then Dan O'Halloran is your guy. I've been in sales my entire life, and this guy is as genuine and as a family guy as it gets.

This realtor is awesome! He is patient, responsive, and knows real estate. His knowledge of the area is great. Did not get the feeling that he was just in it for the money. He actually wants make sure your home is the right fit. We have dealt with multiple realtors, Dan stands out as clearly one of the best we have ever worked with.
Dan listed a family home jointly owned by my sister and I, which was a home where many generations of my family had lived. I set up an interview with him to discuss the sale of the home. I was impressed with the brochure he had prepared and could see that he was well versed in the marketing methods needed in today's market. I could not have made a better choice of realtor. Within two weeks of listing there were two offers, one of which we accepted. Some issues arose as a result of inspections and Dan directed us to contractors that could do the necessary upgrades. He kept tabs on things and was a great help in getting things done on schedule. He certainly went the extra mile. This was a great help to me because I live 3,000 miles from the property and could not be there to take care of all the details.
The buyer had initially contacted another agent in Dan's office, Colby Realty in New London, NH. Dan worked closely with this agent and the property closed on schedule. This close working relationship at Colby Realty is a great benefit for both the seller and buyer.

When we first decided to sell our home we weren’t sure where to turn, but as soon as we began to ask around town we were quickly referred to Dan O’Halloran. We notified Dan that we were thinking of listing our home and he responded immediately making an appointment with us the same week. The moment we met Dan we knew he would be the one to sell our home. There is a certain rare spark he personifies; his easy going good nature, mixed with his sincere enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of the area put us immediately at ease. He went through our home with us giving us advice and suggestions and followed up within days with an in depth analysis of the market and our home’s worth. Dan almost sold our home before it was even put on the market. We had a total of three showings, all were qualified, interested buyers and Dan sold our home in less than one month. We could stop our review and praise for Dan right here, except, six months later we decided again to buy in the Lake Sunapee area. This time we knew who to call. We explained what we were looking for and on the first day out with Dan we couldn’t believe how easily he led us to exactly what we had in mind. Though this time the process was not so easy… There were ups and downs during the entire purchasing period. There were major issues, from needing a new septic to finding out whom the road in front of the house was deeded to and many more. Dan gave us the option of backing out and maybe finding something easier to go forward with, but as soon as we told him that we really wanted this home he worked above and beyond his realtor definition and responsibilities to make sure we were able to make the home ours. We absolutely love our new home and we firmly believe that without Dan as our realtor we would not be living here today. We first contacted Dan late on a Friday night when we inquired about a listing that turned out to be one of his properties. We were surprised the next morning to have a quick and thoughtful response by email. A short while later we were talking on the phone and he was asking a few questions to determine what we were interested in finding. Armed with that knowledge, he was able to show us only homes that met our criteria. There weren't any duds. That seemed all the more impressive given that we were working with Dan during a difficult time in the market. He didn't just show us his own listings. In fact, the house we ultimately bought with Dan's help was listed by another agent but Dan led us there. Throughout the process he was always available, patient with our questions and showed a real passion for doing his job well. We also appreciated his willingness to offer his assessment even if it was different from ours. We never got the feeling that he was simply telling us what we wanted to hear. That honesty was a big help in buying a home in an uncertain market. Dan clearly wants to help get people the right home in an area that he cares about. We bought a piece of land in Newbury, NH with Dan in 2010. As we were base abroad Dan's use of the internet, email and video was a huge benefit to us. Unprompted he documented potential plots n video and put them online for us to see. He educated us and walked land with us for at least 2 years (sorry for wearing out your shoe leather, Dan!) before we found the perfect plot.
At all times we felt he went the extra mile to understand what WE wanted and help us find it, rather than to try and sell us 'what was out there'. We ended up with our dream plot and we learned a huge amount about the local area from him as we searched. Dan is fair, discrete and completely professional. He guided us through the buying process with clear explanations and very prompt responses at all times. We are currently in the process (April 2011) of buying a house via him as he has impressed us so much.

Dan did a great job in helping me find a house. Dan has extensive local knowledge. It is almost scary how much he knows about the Sunapee Area. He is knowledgeable of the sales process as well. He understands the right questions to ask in short-sales and houses that are in foreclosure. He is very up front and wont tell you what you want to hear, just for the sake of it. (Even though sometimes I wish he would have just told me what I wanted to hear) He is very realistic. His responsiveness might be one best differentiators between him and other real estate agents.
